چکیده

We model an isolated portion of a competitive supply chain as a M/M/1 make-tostock queue. The retailer carries finished goods inventory to service a Poisson demand process, and specifies a policy for replenishing his inventory from an upstream supplier. The supplier chooses the service rate, i.e., capacity, of his manufacturing facility, which behaves as a single-server queue with exponential service times. Demand is backlogged and both agents share the backorder cost. In addition, a linear inventory holding cost is charged to the retailer, and a linear cost for building production capacity is incurred by the supplier. The inventory level, demand rate and cost parameters are common knowledge to both agents. Under the continuous-state approximation that the M/M/1 queue has an exponential rather than geometric steady-state distribution, we characterize the optimal centralized and Nash solutions, and show that a contract with linear transfer payments replicates a cost sharing agreement and coordinates the system. We also compare the total system costs, the agents’ decision variables and the customer service levels of the centralized versus Nash versus Stackelberg solutions.

Simultaneous coordination of review period and order-up-to-level in a manufacturer-retailer chain

In this article, manufacturer-retailer supply chain coordination (SCC) has been developed under periodic review inventory system. In the studied model, the retailer as downstream member uses periodic review inventory policy and decides about review period (T) and order-up-to-level (R). Also, the manufacturer as upstream member faces EPQ system and determines the number of shipments from manufac...

A credit period contract towards coordination of pharmaceutical supply chain:The case of inventory-level-dependent demand

This paper considers a two stages pharmaceutical supply chain (PSC) consisting of a pharmaceutical manufacturer (pharma-manufacturer) that supplies one type of pharmaceutical product to a pharma-retailer. The customer demand rate for the pharmaceutical product is dependent on the pharma-retailer’s current-inventory level. The pharma-retailer determines the order quantity ( ) value as decision v...

Coordination and profit sharing in a two-level supply chain under periodic review inventory policy with delay in payments contract

In this paper,a coordination model has been investigated for a two-level supply chain (SC) consisting of one retailer and one supplier under periodic review inventory system. The review period and the retailer’s safety factorare assumed to be decision variables. The retailer faces stochastic demand following a normal distribution with known mean and variance. Moreover, it is assumed that unmet ...

Factors Affecting Photovoltaic Technology Application in Decentralized Electricity Production in Iran: a Conceptual Framework

Using a variety of solar power plants is one of the solutions governments use to respond to energy and sustainable development needs. While Iran has a strong potential for using solar energy, the application of solar energy, especially through PV technology, has been limited due to the country’s richness of fossil fuels and their low prices. Therefore, it is important to adopt effective strateg...

We consider an optimization problem for a multiclass queueing model of a decentralized production-distribution system: A single server can produce a variety of products, and completed units pass through an infinite server delay node on their way to a warehouse inventory. Each product has its own warehouse, demand for each product is satisfied by its associated inventory, and unsatisfied demand ...

Optimization of two-stage production/inventory systems under order base stock policy with advance demand information

It is important to share demand information among the members in supply chains. In recent years, production and inventory systems with advance demand information (ADI) have been discussed, where advance demand information means the information of demand which the decision maker obtains before the corresponding actual demand arrives. Appropriate production and inventory control using demand info...
